Powering Nunavummiut Into The Future.... Today

The Nunavut Energy Centre

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is a Crown Corporation wholly owned by the Government of Nunavut (GN). Qulliq Energy Corporation operates several divisions, using registered trade names such as “Nunavut Power” “Qulliq Energy” and “Nunavut Energy Centre” a not-for-profit division of QEC. These are not separate corporations and thus share the same reporting structure and Board.

The Nunavut Energy Centre (NEC) was established to provide information and support to municipalities, non-government organizations, businesses and individuals in Nunavut for energy management, efficiency enhancement, conservation and renewable technology deployment.

With the continuing upward trend in the use of fossil fuel resulting in the increased production of greenhouse gases and other pollutants, in 2005 the NEC was established and charged with the energy conservation mandate, including seeking energy efficient delivery methodologies for the people of Nunavut.

In FY 06/07, the NEC embarked on the delivery of energy conservation and energy efficiency services to the people of Nunavut (Nunavummiut), municipal governments, community businesses and other resident organizations, in order to identify, evaluate and support implementation of energy efficient projects.

The Nunavut Energy Centre is a not-for-profit QEC division with an office in Iqaluit, Nunavut Territory.
